Railway authorities sound an alert in Tiruchi division

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) authorities have sounded an alert in Tiruchi railway division following the blast on railway track near Villupuram on Saturday.

Security had been stepped up in vulnerable areas across the division to enhance vigil by drawing extra manpower.

Men had been posted at important bridges, electric sub stations and signalling network to prevent such unsavoury incidents, sources said.

RPF personnel who were part of the escort teams on board trains had been instructed to be extra cautious, a senior officer said.

Escort teams had been posted in all night trains.

Government Railway Police have also alerted their personnel to be alert.

Sources said open patrolling was being carried out by local police in certain railway sections.
