Plea to halt all trains at Golden Rock

January 03, 2011 03:30 pm | Updated 03:30 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

The Makkal Sakthi Iyyakam, Tiruchi, has appealed to the divisional railway authorities to take necessary steps to halt all express trains being operated on the Thanjavur line at Golden rock railway station for a couple of minutes for the benefit of the public and railway employees residing in and around Golden Rock.

In a representation to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Tiruchi Railway Division, its regional secretary K.C. Neelamegam said a full-fledged rest room / waiting room could be opened at the Golden Rock railway station. It urged the authorities to provide computerised reservation facility at the Golden Rock railway station to redress the long pending grievance of the travelling public residing in various localities in and around Golden Rock. .

Only railway passes were entertained in this reservation centre and railway employees who wanted to reserve their Privilege Ticket Orders too could not make reservation at the centre since cash was not accepted there forcing them to go to the Tiruchi Junction. The reservation centre should be equipped to accept cash so that the general public residing in Golden Rock and other localities nearby as well as the employees of Golden Rock Railway Workshop need not go to Tiruchi junction for reservation. If that was not possible, computerised reservation facility could be provided at the Golden Rock railway station, it said.
