Exposure visit for panchayat presidents

A group of 64 panchayat presidents from eight districts of Tiruchi, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Pudukottai were taken on a five-day exposure visit from May 24 to 28 to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University at Othakadai in Madurai and other places. Collector T. Soundiah flagged off the exposure visit at the Collectorate here on Monday.

Spot study

The exposure visit has been organised by the Rural Development and Local Administration department to enable the panchayat presidents to have on the spot study of various schemes and projects being implemented in Madurai, Kodaikanal and Ramanathapuram.

The panchayat presidents will also be taken to the fisheries research institute at Mandapam and also to the horticulture college in Periakulam.

Sheep farm to be visited

The panchayat presidents will also visit the Government sheep and rabbit rearing farm in Mannavanur panchayat in Kodaikanal block.
