The process to verify the certificates submitted by school teachers in the district was completed on Monday.
Fake certificates
Recently, two teachers in Dharmapuri district were found working in government schools after submitting fake education certificates. The teachers and the middlemen who prepared the fake certificate were arrested. Inquiries revealed that many more teachers could have been working by submitting fake certificates. The Education Department ordered verification of certificates of all teachers working in government, government aided and private schools. In Salem district, 21 committees were formed and verification works were held on January 8, 9 and 10. Certificates verified include Class 10, 12 mark sheets, UG, PG and M.Phil certificates, community certificates, appointment order, genuineness certificate, and promotion order.

In the city, the process was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Kottai in which 648 teachers from 88 schools appeared for certificate verification. Officials said that the number of teachers appeared for scrutiny could be known only after consolidating the list from all the 21 blocks.
