Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary H. Raja on Sunday claimed that there were certain mysterious knots that were yet to be untied in the Swathi murder case.

While appreciating the State police and more so the Chennai City Police Commissioner for having nabbed the accused in eight days, Mr. Raja said the theory that the “failed engineer” Ramkumar who had followed Swathi for over 60 days had murdered the techie after she refused to accept his love for her was “unbelievable”. Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Raja claimed that the weapon used for killing the techie appeared to be used by terrorists. Why should a person who had come in search of employment have a weapon in his possession, he wondered.

Claiming that the Chennai Police Commissioner admitted that it could not be said with certainty that the murder was committed because of “one-side love”, Mr. Raja said a suspicion arose as to whether Ramkumar was hired to execute the crime.

It appeared that Ramkumar was only an “arrow” and those who had instigated him from behind should also be thoroughly probed and punished, he said adding that none should be protected in any manner. There was no uniformity in media reports on the manner in which Ramkumar was nabbed in his native village, Mr. Raja said, alleging that there were many contradictions in the reports. The environment for women was unsafe in Tamil Nadu, he said.
