Alluring golu dolls beckon visitors

Price ranges from Rs.50 to Rs.16,000; 10% discount up for grabs

Varieties of golu dolls worth thousands of rupees brought from different parts of the State are on display at the annual exhibition at the Poompuhar showroom in the city on Friday evening.

Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, inaugurated the show.

Golu dolls and sets made of clay, marble, soapstone, gemstones, Kondapalli dolls, ‘marapachi’ dolls, sandalwood, and rosewood are on display.

“We have displayed doubled the varieties of dolls compared to last year and they have been procured from experienced artisans of Thanjavur, Pudukottai, and Chennai,” says A.N.Xavier, manager, Poompuhar showroom.

Price

The price of these golu dolls and sets range from Rs.50 to Rs.16,000 and the exhibition has everything the housewives might need for Navarathri festival.

A discount of 10 per cent is offered on all varieties during the exhibition and the showroom also accepts credit and debit cards without any service charges.

Rs.10-lakh target

It has been targeted to market golu dolls to the tune of Rs.10 lakh this season.

Last year, Rs.8 lakh was generated through similar exhibition against a target of Rs.10 lakh, he adds.

The exhibition will continue till October 24.
