The members will serve the capacity for one year. Since the SSTP is a continuous process plant and comes under ‘Major Accident Hazard’ (MAH) category, safety stewards have an important role in taking awareness on safety to grassroots employees.

T.Baskaran, Additional General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), said that Safety Stewards Scheme was started in BHEL in 1973 to involve supervisors and equivalent grade employees in plant-level safety promotional activities.
