The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchi, will carry out a project on business and management capacity development for rural women entrepreneurs of India and Sri Lanka.
As part of the project, a one-day awareness programme would be organised here on September 12 to share the main objectives and implementation aspects of the project.
About 250 women entrepreneurs, self-help groups from Tiruchi and neighbouring districts are expected to participate in this event.

In addition, women empowerment agencies, Sri Lankan partner institutions, educational institutions, policy makers, government officials, and other stakeholders across Tamil Nadu are expected to take part.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation, promoted by the NIT Tiruchi, will implement the project.

University of Jaffna and the South Eastern University would be the Sri Lankan partners with the Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Tamil Nadu being the network partner.
Funded by the ASIA Foundation, the proposed project aims at developing and sustaining the business and management capacity of rural women entrepreneurs of India and Sri Lanka especially those in the northern and eastern provinces of the island nation, a press release from the NIT here said.
