Yuva Morcha pickets Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) picketed the Secretariat from early morning till evening seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

The picketing was in progress as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the Zero-Landless Kerala Project at the nearby Central Stadium.

The BJYM declined to oblige to a request from the police seeking postponement of the picketing in view of Ms. Gandhi’s visit. BJP State President V. Muraleedharan, who inaugurated the protest, said the Chief Minister’s office was being frequented by thieves, swindlers, murderers, and mafia gangs and Mr. Chandy’s close aides were accused in police cases.

The Chief Minister was but trying to shield them, he said. BJYM State president P. Sudheer presided over the protest.

The Cantonment police have registered a case against 10 activists for obstructing traffic and public movement.
