68-bed hostel built by Kerala State Housing Board at ₹7.45 crore

Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan inaugurated a 68-bed working women’s hostel at NCC Nagar on Wednesday.

The 13,965-sq ft hostel, which has been constructed by the Kerala State Housing Board at an estimated outlay of ₹7.45 crore with funds provided by the Central and State governments, will have a guest room, a three-bedded sick room, day care centre, recreation room, reading hall, kitchen, and dining hall besides bio-bin and incinerator for solid waste management.

Addressing the gathering, the Revenue Minister said there was urgent need to provide good living facilities for women in keeping with the emerging employment patterns in different sectors. Although such changes had been in evidence for long, no effort was being made to address issues such as living facilities for women, he said.
