According to Medical College station house officer C. Binu Kumar, it has turned out that the woman was not pregnant.

“Medical tests have brought to light that an abortion had taken place, lending credence to the suspicion that she could have fled from the hospital to escape the consequences. She had boarded a train and managed to reach Chennai, following which she decided to return home,” he said.
