Waste treatment facility to come up at government quarters

A waste treatment plant will be set up at the State’s largest government quarters at Rajiv Nagar, Melaranoor, near Karamana, Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar has said.

He was speaking at a function organised by the Rajiv Nagar Residents’ Association here on Tuesday after inspecting the ongoing renovation work there which covers 44 blocks accommodating 587 families.

As much as Rs.4.45 crore had been set aside for construction.

Tarring of roads had been completed and other works were 50 per cent complete, a release issued by the Minister’s office said. Within the quarters, a bus waiting shelter, health clinic, and a mini-stadium would be constructed as well, he said. Also present were Trivandrum Development Authority Chairman P.K. Venugopal and residents’ association president S. Ramabhadran.
