Walk for child rights

As part of the Child Rights Week observance, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights will conduct a ‘A walk for child rights’ from Kanakakkunnu to Manaveeyam Veedhi on November 18.

Students from various schools, including those for the visually impaired and auditory challenged, and child-care institutions along with those working in the area of child rights will take part in the walk, to be held at 7.15 a.m. The walk will be flagged off by Prasanth Chandran, winner of many awards, including the national award for outstanding creative adult persons with disabilities.

On November 20, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be the chief guest at The Universal Children’s Day function organised by the commission at the Kanakakkunnu Palace. Minister for Education C. Ravindranath will preside.

Postal cover

The Chief Minister will release a special postal cover to commemorate the silver jubilee of India ratifying the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. Mr. Ravindranath will felicitate seven institutions selected for their contributions to society.

A special merit certificate will also be presented to the Magic Academy for their work in the area.
