The University of Kerala is verifying the veracity of two complaints filed by women employees against Syndicate members for allegedly making certain disrespectful comments on them, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) N. Veeramanikandan said here on Thursday.
Regarding the complaint filed by a Section Officer against Syndicate member Jamal Kunju, Mr. Veeramanikandan said he had asked the complainant to appear for a hearing within two days.
The PVC said he was looking into the various aspects of the complaint filed by Syndicate member Jolly Jacob against Kadakampally Surendran, Syndicate member and Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] district secretary.

Ms. Jacob had sought action against Mr. Surendran for being discourteous to her during the recent Senate meeting.
Four Syndicate members, all representing the All-Kerala Private Teachers Association, urged the PVC to not act upon the complaint. In a letter to the PVC, they said the complaint was ‘malicious and politically motivated.’
The signatories said the complaint was aimed at tarnishing the image of Mr. Surendran and the party which he represented. Drawing attention to the proceedings of the Senate meeting which the PVC chaired, they said the complainant never mentioned the alleged misbehaviour of Mr. Surendran during the meeting.

The letter said the complainant was acting at the behest of Congress members.
