The Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) has been asked to acquire land for the development of the Sasthamangalam-Vattiyurkavu, Nettayam-Mukkola-Vazhayila-Vattiyurkavu, and Peroorkada-Mannamoola-Vattiyurkavu stretches being taken up in the second phase of the City Road Improvement Project (CRIP).
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday to discuss the development of the State capital also decided to provide funds for meeting the administrative cost and for appointing technical expert for the development of the 12-km road.
It was also decided to complete the pending works in the first phase of CRIP in a time-bound manner. The meeting attended by Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali and Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar decided to carry out studies on the recommendations on parking policy.

The Chief Minister said the Parvathy Puthanar passing through the capital would be cleaned, dredged, and made navigable. In the first phase, the garbage would be removed at a cost of Rs.7 crore.
In the second phase, side walls would be constructed and sewerage connections would be provided to those staying on the banks of the canal in a scientific way. A sum of Rs.200 crore was needed for the works and the cleaning of the canal would be included in the second phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Veli and Akkulam lakes would be cleaned and de-silted.
