More than 23,000 students on Sunday appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) conducted by the CBSE nation-wide for admission to B.Tech. and BE courses in centres in Thiruvananthapuram.
The examinations were spread over 43 centres in the capital city.
The directive by the CBSE to candidates to carry with them a copy of either the Plus Two mark list or the admit card for the Plus Two examinations led to anxious moments for many candidates who failed to bring these documents with them to the JEE centres.

Some of the candidates who had come from outside the city and the district made a last minute scramble to get these documents either faxed or mailed to them.
“This year onwards, admissions to the IITs and the NITs too will be based on the performance in the JEE. So, the CBSE had tightened the scrutiny norms. Many candidates did not get to know of this and did not bring these documents. No one missed the examinations, though. The CBSE had directed us to allow such candidates also to write the exams,” said Jyothis Chandran, manager of the Jyothis Central School, here.
The entrance examinations for the architecture course were held in the afternoon.
