Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has denied Leader of the Opposition V.S Achuthanandan’s allegations about his connections with solar scam accused Saritha S. Nair.
Mr. Radhakrishnan told The Hindu that Mr. Achuthanandan was trying to create a smokescreen of allegations.
According to official records, out of the 41,528 outgoing calls from Saritha Nair’s telephone from June 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013, only four calls had been made to the Home Minister’s number.

These calls were made on January 23, 24 and 28, with two calls being made on January 24.
Three calls lasted just about 30 seconds, while the fourth lasted 4 minutes. Many calls had also been made to the numbers of several LDF leaders.

According to the records, Saritha Nair also made calls to the Minister’s Private Secretary seeking an appointment with the Minister to file a complaint about some threats against her.
Sources close to the Home Minister said the allegations of the Opposition leader regarding his visit to actor Shalu Menon’s house for her house warming also were baseless.
The sources said local CPI (M) leaders, including the district secretariat member Sanal Kumar and his family and Changanassery municipal chairperson Krishnakumari Rajasekharan, had also attended the house warming ceremony.
Motive
The Home Department was also examining if there was any political motive in the tampering of the petition filed by Konni resident Sreedharan Nair. Additions naming the Chief Minister were made to the petition. The lawyer’s clerk admitted that he had made the changes on the directions of the lawyer engaged by Mr. Nair.
The Home Department was examining the allegation that the lawyer was a member of the Communist Party of India, the sources said.
