Thiruvananthapuram schools elated over higher secondary exam results

The district put up an impressive performance, registering 81.61 per cent pass in the higher secondary school examinations, the results of which were declared here on Wednesday.

A total of 30,290 students from 162 schools appeared for the examinations and 24,720 have become eligible for higher studies.

Registering a pass percentage of 53.21, 83 students out of the 156 who appeared for the vocational higher secondary examination have also put up a good show.

Under the open school category, 1,484 students out of the 4,778 who appeared for the exam are eligible for higher studies. It was celebration time at many schools in the city, where students distributed sweets to teachers and parents. St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, where the largest number of students wrote the exam, celebrated their feat of having the highest number of students who scored A Plus in all subjects. A total of 84 students out of the 692 who appeared for the examination have secured A Plus in all subjects. Government Girls’ Higher Secondary school, Cotton Hill, celebrated the results by distributing laddoos.

A Plus in all subjects

A total of 546 students from the district have scored A Plus in all subjects, many among them scoring 1,200 out of 1,200. “I did not expect full marks, though I had scored well in the first year. Three months of hard work and support from parents and teachers helped me achieve this success,” said S. Anjana Krishna of Government Higher Secondary School, Cotton Hill. S. Shafna Ramsama of Government Higher Secondary School, Kattakada, and V.R. Sruthi of Government Model Higher Secondary School for Girls, Pattom, were thankful to their teachers for their relentless support during the model examinations.

Success also knocked at the doors of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Deaf, Jagathy.

Dream fulfilled

For a long time, the teachers of this school had nursed the dream of achieving 100 per cent results. Their desire finally came true on Wednesday. A total of 21 students who appeared for the examination came out with flying colours when the results of the vocational higher secondary examinations were announced. Residents of the government-run Sri Chitra Home for Destitutes and Infirm also had reasons to rejoice. Seven out of ten students who appeared for the examinations secured good grades.
