The Federation of Residents’ Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) on Friday said the State budget had failed to meet the expectations of the people in the city.
FRAT, in a release, said the budget had failed to allocate adequate sums for schemes considered important for the development of the city.
The association urged Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar to intervene in the matter. However, Mr. Sivakumar said the Budget had given high priority to the city. Of the 10 mega infrastructure projects envisaged for the State, six were specifically meant for the development of the city, he said in a release.

The district unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has flayed the government for neglecting capital city in the State Budget. In a statement, secretary of the district unit of the party, Kadakampally Surendran said in the present Budget there were only a few proposals like that was made in the previous two annual financial statements. He also said several proposals that found mention in last year’s Budget had reappeared in the current Budget.
