Temple gets record for tallest Sivalingam

The Maheshwaram Sri Siva Parvathi temple at Chengal near here has been certified by the India Book of Records for making the tallest Sivalingam reaching up to a height of 111 feet.

India Book of Records adjudicator Shahul Hamid and team presented the certificate to the temple authorities at a function held on the temple premises on Thursday. The team used the total station method to measure the dimensions of the Sivalingam.

Constructed to foster peace, the Mahalingam is an eight-storeyed structure based on the seven chakras in the human body. Devotees can enter the Mahalingam and meditate in the six halls provided for the purpose.

As many as 108 Sivalingams and 64 forms of Lord Siva have been installed inside the structure.
