Tax collection resumes at Kadakampally

June 17, 2014 05:38 pm | Updated 05:38 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Revenue Department started collecting land tax from around 1,500 people who own land at Kadakampally village from Monday.

The landowners were unable to remit tax for the past two years since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had taken possession of seven ‘thandaper’ (rent roll) registries as part of its investigation into the alleged attempt to grab land at Kadakampally village.

The department had facilitated payment of tax except for the survey numbers 1203, 1204, 1232, 1236, 1238, 1240, 1270, 1279, 1280, 1281, 1282, 1283, 1284, 1285, 1286, 1287, 1288, 1388, and 1409 after obtaining copies of the rent rolls, an official release said here.
