Sword brawl in Valiathura: four held

The Valiathura police on Sunday arrested four persons after a brawl in which one person suffered sword injuries.

According to the police, Robinson, who was hacked with the sword he was carrying; Hilton; his son Herman; and Krishnankutty, all from Valiathura, were arrested. Robinson is alleged to have barged into the house of his neighbour Hilton in connection with a family dispute. One person from Hilton’s side snatched Robinson’s sword and attacked him. All four sustained injuries. The four had been remanded in judicial custody, the police said.

Unnatural death

The Attingal police have registered a case of unnatural death after the body of Sharafuddin, 60, of Nagaroor was found in a well in his courtyard on Sunday noon. He is suspected to have slipped and drowned while drawing water from the well.

Body found

The body of a man, suspected to be around 55 years old, was found lying in the bushes near the Palode Forest Range Office around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The man was wearing a sandalwood coloured shirt. The body has been shifted to the medical college hospital morgue. A case has been registered.

Found hanging

A 29-year-old woman, Lathika, who was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom and rushed to the hospital on Saturday night died on Sunday.

The police said her husband was an alcoholic and that a family dispute could have prompted her to resort to the extreme step.
