The Government Central High School, Attakulangara, is no more an uneconomic institution, students of the school told Shashi Tharoor, MP, on Sunday.

They said this in a representation to Mr. Tharoor, who was at the school to inaugurate non-governmental organisation Tree Walk’s ‘Postcard to a Tree’ contest.

The school protection committee and the parent-teacher association also handed over representations to the MP. Mr. Tharoor opened the contest by writing such a post card himself.

The postcard writing contest was for children from the ages of 10 to 17. A poster exhibition ‘All for a school and green lung’ that focussed on efforts of Tree Walk and the school protection committee to conserve the school and the biodiversity on its campus was put up on the occasion.

Mr. Tharoor went through the over 70 posters on display, and expressed keen interest in the school issue.

Seventy-odd children from the school and outside participated in the postcard-writing contest. The postcards were written in Malayalam, Tamil, and English. Participation certificates were given to the students.
