S.S. Thara selected for best Malayalam thesis award

S.S. Thara has been selected for the ‘Bhashakkoru Dollar’ award instituted by the University of Kerala and FOKANA for the best Malayalam research thesis in a year. Her thesis was titled ‘The Influence of Classical Literature in the Paintings of Raja Ravi Varma.’

Dr. Thara is a temporary teacher at the Panmana regional centre of the Sanskrit University.

A press note issued here said the award entails a cash component of Rs.50,000. While the university would publish the prize-winning thesis, FOKANA would provide the award money. Dr. Thara was unanimously selected for the award by a three-member jury comprising the former head of the department of Malayalam, University of Kerala, V. S. Sharma; the former head of the department of Malayalam, Madras University, Rajendra Babu; and the director of the School of Indian Languages, C.R. Rajagopal.
