Six cease to be Senate members

Did not attend 3 consecutive meetings

Six members, including two MLAs, of the Senate of the University of Kerala have ceased to be its members owing to their failure to attend three consecutive Senate meetings.

The members are A.T. George, P.C. Vishnunath, MLAs; Sarathchandra Raj, Principal, R.V. Training College, Valakom; A. Asha, Principal, Government College, Nedumangad; Anil Jose, manager, Fathima Matha National, College, Kollam; and P.A. Hilal Babu, manager, MSM College, Kayamkulam.

They were elected to the Senate under various sections of the Kerala University Act, 1974. An order issued by the Pro Vice Chancellor said “all these members have ceased to be members of the Senate of the University of Kerala owing to their failure to attend three consecutive meetings, as provided for in Section 44 (4) of the Kerala University Act, 1974”.
