The government has given administrative nod for utilisation of Rs.54 crore for the comprehensive hill area development programme. A release said the funds would be used in Idukki, Wayanad, Kannur and Malappuram. A sum of Rs.10 crore would be utilised for drinking water supply, Rs.5 crore for renovation of ponds, Rs.20 crore for construction of check-dams, Rs.10 crore for development of farming, Rs.5 crore for dairy development and Rs.4 crore for protection of natural resources. – Special Correspondent
