Minister for Fisheries K. Babu has said that the government has allotted Rs.12.45 crore for coastal drinking water schemes.
In a press release here on Saturday, Mr. Babu said the money had been drawn from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) fund for development of basic infrastructure. The Kerala State Coastal Development Corporation would execute the schemes.
As part of the NABARD fund, fisheries villages had been envisaged at Neendakara in Kollam district, Thrikunnipuzha in Alappuzha, Kaipamangalam in Thrissur, and Ajanoor in Kasaragod.

The corporation had earlier submitted a plan to the government to develop 222 coastal villages and 123 villages abutting inland waterways at a cost of Rs.3,000 crore.
