Children’s Day was celebrated with much fanfare by various institutions in the city.
At St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, 128 students and teachers sharing the name Rose got together to arrange a garden in memory of the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who loved roses and children.
Magician Gopinath Muthukad brought smiles and wonder to the faces of children undergoing treatment at SAT Hospital through his tricks. He also delivered the Children’s Day message.

The Kalabhavan Mani Memorial Charitable and Educational Society organised programmes for the residents of Sree Chitra Home here. M. Vincent, MLA, inaugurated the celebrations.
Children who grew up hearing grandmothers’ stories were better equipped to deal with life, former DGP Alexander Jacob said at celebrations organised by the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School here.
The 128th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru was also celebrated by the Nehru Peace Foundation. K. Muraleedharan, MLA, presided. G. Madhavan Nair, former ISRO chairman, delivered the keynote address. A colourful rally was taken out at Sree Chithira Thirunal Residential Central School. The day was also celebrated at Shanthiniketan School, Kunnumpuram. The Uday Samudra group arranged various programmes for differently abled students of Marion Play Home, near Mannanthala.
