PWD to revamp 242 roads

As many as 242 roads coming under 100 wards of the City Corporation will be revamped by the Public Works Department (PWD) at an estimated cost of Rs.42.5 crore.

Five segments

The roads are in the Assembly constituencies of Thiruvananthapuram, Vattiyoorkavu, Nemom, Kazhakuttom, and Kovalam. This is for the first time that the PWD is embarking on a massive project like this to give a face-lift to the roads in the Corporation area.

The works to modernise these roads will be launched by Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju at a function to be held at the Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Minister for Transport and Dewasoms V.S. Sivakumar will preside over the function. Mayor K. Chandrika, Shashi Tharoor, MP, K. Muraleedharan, M.A. Wahid, V. Sivankutty, and Jameela Prakasham, all legislators from the district, will participate.
