Probe on into temple burglary

The rural police are trying to obtain leads in a case of burglary at the Mannadikonam Mutharaman Devi temple near Maranaloor on Thursday night by looking into similar crimes in the recent past and placing criminals under surveillance.

A special investigation team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nedumangad, K. Mohammed Shafi, is investigating the burglary, in which the idol, believed to be made of gold, and Rs.1,500 in cash were stolen.

Two more held

The Fort police have arrested two more persons in connection with the September 18 attack on Jithunath, a jail warder from Kollam, on the Central Theatre road, near Pazhavangady. The accused were identified as Anil Kumar, 27, alias Anikuttan, of Mottamoodu and Ratheesh, 27, alias Tikkli, of Veeranakavu. With this, all three accused have been arrested.

Body found

The body of a woman missing from the Nemom police station limits for two days was fished out from the Karamana river near Thrikkannapuram on Sunday. The Poojappura police said the body had been shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Hospital.
