Pollution control awards announced

The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has announced the pollution control awards 2015 in various categories.

BPCL Kochi refinery has won the excellence award in the very large industry category while Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd., Ernakulam, bagged the excellence award among large industries. In the dairy sector, the excellence award went to the Palakkad dairy of Malabar Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (MRCMPU) Ltd., while the Wayanad dairy won the first prize.

Among local bodies, Kumily grama panchayat and Alappuzha municipality bagged the first prize in the respective categories. While Taluk Headquarters Hospital, Punalur, claimed the excellence award, Primary Health Centre, Karavaloor, Kollam, and District Hospital, Wadakkanchery, emerged first in their categories. Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier Ayurveda College Hospital, Kottakal, Caritas Hospital, Kollam, PRS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, Nizar Hospital, Malappuram, and New Alma Hospital, Palakkad, won the first prize in different categories.

The first, second, and third place winners will get a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, Rs.50,000, and Rs.25,000 respectively, in addition to certificates and trophies. Excellence winners except very large and large industries also get Rs.1,00,000.

Award distribution

The awards would be given away by Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed at Fine Arts Hall, Ernakulam on June 5, a press note said.
