The government is planning to give pension through the Social Security Mission to persons suffering from undetected debilitating diseases, Social Welfare Minister M.K. Muneer has said.
Replying to questions in the Assembly on Tuesday, Dr. Muneer said that a list of diseases whose etiology does not exist would be collected and medical aid would be given to its victims.
Sickle-cell anaemia patients have been brought under the Thalolam project. The Health Department is planning to pilot a new Act by merging the existing Travancore Cochin Public Health Act and the Madras Public Health Act.

Action will be taken against civic bodies which fail to remit the library cess at the State Library Council within the prescribed time. The cess collection will be brought under Local Fund Audit.
Instances of civic bodies diverting funds and also not remitting the collected funds have been noticed by the government. It has been proposed to compute the cess amounted collected by each civic body and if anyone fails to remit the cess, it will be deducted from their Plan fund allocation.
Minister for Printing and Stationery K.P. Mohanan said that various departments, mainly the Revenue Department, which place orders for printing forms were not lifting them from the government presses and they were being stacked at the press itself.

A State Soil Museum will be set up at the Soil Conservation Centre at Paraottukonam here this year itself.
Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph said the government had requested the Centre to include more areas in the MGNREGS. The rigid guidelines were a hindrance to optimum utilisation of the scheme. Only 36 days work could be provided in 2009-10, 42 days in 2010-11 and 45 days in 2011-12. Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash said the time for submitting petitions for rectifying anomalies in the fair value of land was extended from 30 days to a year.
The petitions should be submitted to the District Collectors.
Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali said that mobile incinerators would be commissioned in Thiruvananthapuram corporation this year itself.
