One arrested in cheating case

The Nemom police have arrested a 58-year-old man for allegedly duping a person after providing assurances of landing him a leading role in Tamil cinema.

The accused has been identified as Radhakrishna Menon, 58, of Thanneermukkom, Alappuzha. He was living in a rented facility at Santhivila, Nemom. He has been accused by one Siva of Chennai of collecting ₹22 lakh in instalments.

The accused is suspected to have duped many people under the cover of his firm, R.K. Films, of which he ran branches in Chennai and Ernakulam. After collecting the money from the complainant, the accused had remained incommunicado and had not responded to the former’s calls.

The police tracked down Radhakrishna Menon using his mobile phone network. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
