Onam khadi mela begins

The government will extend all assistance to the Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi for its efforts to tap the growing market for Khadi products, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said.

Inaugurating the Onam khadi mela organised by the Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi here, he said the government had come out with a special rebate for khadi products.

A 30 per cent rebate would be given for cotton and silk khadi products, a release issued by the organisers’ here said.

A 20 per cent rebate would be given for polyester khadi products.

The Onam khadi mela will be under way at the smarak nidhi office at Thycaud till July 27.

30 per cent rebate will be given for cotton and silk khadi products and 20 per cent for polyester khadi.
