Not responsible for dark streets, says KSEB

November 22, 2014 01:23 pm | Updated 01:23 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

‘Work for Rs.65 lakh of Rs.79.22 lakh deposited by city Corporation completed.’

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has said that it is not responsible for the non-functioning of street lights in the city and that the current problem is caused by the delay on the part of the City Corporation in supplying materials for maintenance work.

In a press release here on Friday, the board said that it had already completed maintenance work for Rs.65 lakh out of the total of Rs.79.22 lakh deposited by the Corporation.

To complete works for the remaining labour charge of Rs.14.2 lakh, the Corporation had to supply materials. But this was yet to happen and hence the delay.

In several wards, only half of the required materials was supplied, said the press release.

The board also criticised the Corporation for ‘misleading’ the public by claiming that a meeting the councillors had with the Board Director on Tuesday was a gherao.
