Says party keen on ensuring cohesion in the front

Congress does not favour one-party domination in the United Democratic Front (UDF), Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.

The Chief Minister was briefing reporters after a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.

The onus was on the Congress to take along all allies, Mr. Chandy said. He chose to distance himself from an editorial of the Congress mouthpiece,

Veekshanam, criticising Janata Dal (United) [JD-U] leader M.P. Veerendrakumar and said it was against the party’s policy and approach to the front constituents.

The Congress would continue to maintain warm relations with the allies and would not isolate, criticise, or fight against any party in the UDF, he said.

The JD(U) and the Congress shared a very warm relationship.

The political issues raised by Mr. Veerendrakumar had been sorted out through discussions, he said.
