A three-member medical board, which examined Communist Party of India (Marxist) protester D. Jayaprasad who was injured in a police action at the venue of a function attended by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Anayara on September 4, on Thursday told police investigators that the activist had sustained no injuries on his private parts as alleged.

The government had constituted the board after the Opposition accused the police of wanton cruelty against Jayaprasad. The police had earlier suspended a sub-inspector (SI) in connection with the incident, and registered a criminal case against him.

The medical board said Jayaprasad had sustained injuries on his chest, back, right shoulder, and lower abdomen. It comprised surgery and urology experts. It said Jayaprasad was in fine health, and there was no sign of any trauma having been inflicted on his private parts.
The police on Monday booked Jayaprasad on charges of obstructing the duty of policemen in uniform, unlawful assembly, rioting, and destruction of public property under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
