The Museum police have registered two cases against a Kasaragod-based career guidance agency after two residents of Kowdiar in the city lodged separate complaints that they were duped of Rs.1.2 crore and Rs.25 lakh in the name of admissions to a Mangaluru-based medical college.
According to the police, the first complainant had stated that he was duped of Rs1.2 crore after the agency, identified by the police as KPL Career Guidance, promised admissions to his daughters at A.J. Medical College, in Mangaluru.
The admission fee or donation, for one student, was Rs.80 lakh and the complainant had paid Rs.1.2 crore in advance, but with no admission happening, he approached the police.

The second complainant, who was also trying for admission for his ward to the same medical college, had paid Rs.24.26 lakh out of the Rs.60 lakh that he was asked to pay. The police have arraigned four persons as the accused, out of which two are believed to have been arrested for similar offences in Wayanad district.
However, the details of these arrests were yet to reach the Museum police, who said they were verifying the reports and preparing to send a team for the purpose. Whether other people in the city were duped by the agency in the same manner was yet to be known, the police said. The agency had got in touch with the complainants during an entrance examination at Kasaragod.
