Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Leader of the Oppoisition V.S. Achuthanandan and KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran have come down heavily on Vellappally Natesan’s Samathwa Munnetta Yatra, both Mr. Achuthanandan and Mr. Sudheeeran terming it a part of the Sangh Parivar agenda.
Mr. Chandy, who was inaugurating the 70{+t}{+h}death anniversary of freedom fighter Mohammed Abdurahiman organised by the KPCC here on Monday, wondered how anyone who professes the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru could indulge in such a divisive action.
The people of Kerala, who had always cherished the teachings of the Guru, would reject any action that deviated from those teachings, the Chief Minister said.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Sudheeran asked how Mr. Natesan, who would not help even those belonging to his community, could venture out with a march seeking to bring about equality. He has turned into the henchman of the RSS and was out to implement its agenda to divide democratic Kerala.

The Opposition leader, who inaugurated a Secretariat march organised by former functionaries of the SNDP Yogam and the SN Trust seeking an investigation into what they termed illegal amassment of around Rs.1,000 crore through teacher appointments by Mr. Natesan, said the yatra would end in a water grave by the time it reaches the State capital. By then, Mr. Natesan would have become a full-fledged RSS activist, he said.

Speaking at a separate function, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala also came out against the yatra terming it one that would lead Kerala society to the dark ages. Followers of the Guru would reject the yatra which would devalue his teachings, Mr. Chennithala said.
