Protesting against the delay in restoring water supply to various parts of the city, that was affected following the multiple pipe bursts on Monday evening, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) councillors led by Mayor K. Chandrika organised a protest outside the residence of Water Resources Minister P.J. Joseph on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mayor said in a release here that the private water tankers that the government had arranged on Tuesday to make up for the deficiency were returned leading to an acute shortage in drinking water in most areas. Medical emergencies had to be put off at the Government Medical College owing to lack of water.

The dharna was organised as no effective temporary measures were arranged, the release added.
