Kudumbasree, the flagship poverty eradication programme under the aegis of the State government, has broken new grounds by making products manufactured by rural artisans in Kerala a big hit in other States.
This has been made possible through Kudumbasree’s participation in Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society (SARAS) exhibitions held in other States. According to a statement issued by the Kudumbasree Executive Director S Harikishore, rural artisans under Kudumbasree had raked in a turn over of over ₹66 crore through SARAS.
Each State is required to organise at least two SARAS exhibitions during a financial year under the State Livelihood Mission. Kerala hosted an exhibition in August-September at Malappuram.

In other States
The Malappuram SARAS exhibition registered a total turnover of ₹6 crore. So far, Kudumbasree registered its presence in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal. Its stalls at the India International Trade Fair also raked in good profits.
Kudumbasree will participate in similar exhibitions hosted by other States in the coming months. Usually, the Kudumbasree delegation are led by micro enterprises consultants selected from the districts. The number of representatives in each delegation depends on the number of stalls allotted for Kerala. The respective district Kudumbasree Missions and the micro enterprises nominate their representatives in this regard.
