Citing the potential repercussions the Vizhinjam project could have on environment and society, the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) has sought its abandonment.

The KSSP’s demand comes when the Vizhinjam seaport project is all set to be formally inaugurated in a few days.

Parishad general secretary P. Muraleedharan alleged that the State government had decided to proceed with the project despite serious concerns that were raised.

Terming it a ‘real estate project’, the KSSP said the Vizhinjam seaport project had been envisaged in a manner that it benefited none other than the Gujarat-based Adani Group, which was entrusted with the project by the government, according to A.J. Vijayan, an expert on coastal issues.
