The government had sanctioned the fund for disbursing the gratuity of cashew labourers who retired from the corporation factories in 2011 and 2012. Minister will also inaugurate the gratuity distribution to 1,600 labourers on the occasion.

Grow bag unit

Taking into account the increasing demand for the organic vegetables cultivated on factory premises, the corporation will inaugurate a grow bag unit the same day.

As part of the project vegetables of the high-yielding variety will be sold in grow bags and the labourers will also offer their service to those who want to start organic farming at their home by setting up grow bags.

The KSCDC had started organic farming in 50 acres of land with the help of Kerala State Agency for the expansion of cashew cultivation, horticorp, Agriculture Department and Haritha Mission.

The farms across its factories produce safe, chemical-free vegetables while offering maximum working days for the labourers.

The KSCDC will also conduct the inauguration of the renovated factory complex at Kottiyam, which went for a modern makeover in connection with the golden jubilee celebrations of the corporation, on the same day.

Renovation

Government had sanctioned ₹12 crore for renovating all 30 factories of the corporation and the renovated factories have separate sections for shelling, peeling and grading along with dining room, toilet blocks, creche and canteen.

The KSCDC officials said that the corporation was planning to complete the works of all factories before November and dedicate them on Kerala Piravi Day.
