Introducing adventure seekers to yet another form of adventure tourism, the Adventure Tourism Promotion Society organised a demonstration of kiteboarding, with the help of kite boarder Jackie from China, at Shanghumughom here on Monday.

The demonstration attracted a large crowd, which watched Jackie display his skills with a power kite on the waves here. The demonstration will be held on Tuesday too, from 9 a.m. till the evening, society officials said.

The event was part of the society’s efforts to chalk out a master plan to introduce the State to various avenues in adventure tourism, they said. Mountain biking and kayaking events held at various places in the State had already attracted sizeable crowds.

As per current plans, Kappil in Thiruvananthapuram would be among the three locations selected to have sustainable adventure tourism master plans. While Kappil would be developed primarily for water-based activities, Muzhappilangad in Kannur would be developed for sea-based activities, and Vagamon for air-based activities. The master plans were in the process of being finalised, an ATPS official said.
