Senkumar axed, Behera new State Police Chief

The newly formed Left Democratic Front (LDF) government on Monday night removed State Police Chief (SPC) and Director General of Police (DGP) T. P. Senkumar and posted his junior and Commandant General, Fire and Rescue Services, Loknath Behera to the top job in the State police force.

The government also removed Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) N. Shankar Reddy. Director General of Police (DGP) and Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation Chairman Jacob Thomas has been posted in his place. The shake-up at the top level of the State police came a few hours after the return of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from New Delhi. Neither Mr. Senkumar nor Mr. Reddy has been given new posting. Informed sources said Mr. Senkumar, who has less than a year to retire, is likely to be posted as the MD of the Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation.

Second reshuffle

This is the second major change in the State police force after the LDF government assumed office. Additional Director General of Police (South Zone) K. Padmakumar was shifted out last week and has not been given posting till date.
