The 26th edition of the Kerala Science Congress, organised at Pookode, Wayanad, from January 28 to 31 jointly by the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) and its research centres, will feature detailed discussions on various dimensions of traditional knowledge.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is scheduled to inaugurate the congress at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science University at 9.30 a.m. on January 28.

A release here said 2,000 delegates had registered for the event. Over 850 papers would be presented, of which 158 would be papers by young researchers contesting for the young scientist award.
The young scientist awards have been instituted to honour promising researchers from the State for outstanding contributions in any branch of science and technology.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a start-up research grant.

Awards will also be given for the best poster presentation in 14 subject areas - agriculture; fishery and veterinary sciences; biotechnology; chemical sciences & technology; earth system sciences & geo-informatics; engineering science; information technology & computer science; environmental science including forestry & wildlife; health science; life science; physical science; science and society; science teaching and mathematical science.
There will be six memorial lectures in honour of science and technology visionaries such as Dr. P.K. Iyengar, Dr. G.N. Ramachandran, Dr. E.K. Janakiyammal, P.T. Bhaskara Panicker, Dr. P.K. Gopalakrishnan, and Dr. P.R. Pisharoty.
The note said there would be invited talks and lectures on the special theme.
‘Sasthra Jalakam – The National Science Expo’- involving major research and development organisations, science and technology institutions and industry - will be another attraction at the congress.
The expo at the Chandragiri Auditorium, Kalpetta, will be open from January 27 to 31.
