Kanikkonna becomes dearer, year after year

This year too, Kanikkonna salesmen popped up across all major junctions in the city on Tuesday.

And, just like every other year, there was nothing standard about the prices. The rates were decided by each salesman as per his whims. The prices ranged from Rs.50 to Rs.100 for a bunch of Kanikkonna, a mango, and a small jackfruit. Brisk sales were visible at all junctions. The price-conscious were seen asking the rates and heading over to the next junction, in search of a better bargain. Most sellers said they collected the flowers on Monday night.
