Jacob’s way of political work a school in itself: Karthikeyan

Speaker G. Karthikeyan has said that the late T.M. Jacob’s organisational and political skills were such that the size of his party was never of any consequence, no matter which political front was in power.

Speaking after releasing the book Anashwaranaya T.M. Jacob (‘The Immortal T.M. Jacob’), compiled and edited by S. Mahadevan Thampi, at a meeting organised on the leader’s first death anniversary here on Sunday, Mr. Karthikeyan said Mr. Jacob’s way of political work was a school in itself, making it near-impossible for anyone to ignore him or his words. Former Additional Chief Secretary D. Babu Paul, recalling his long association with the former Minister, said Mr. Jacob’s role in the formation of the Mahatma Gandhi University might not be much talked about, but still it could not be ignored because it was he who had toiled for the sameChief Secretary K. Jayakumar, presiding over the function, said his relationship with Mr. Jacob was of 42 years, right from student days.Earlier, Mr. Karthikeyan unveiled a portrait of Mr. Jacob, while Elizabeth Antony, wife of Defence Minister A.K. Antony, inaugurated the distribution of financial assistance to the poor. Mr. Jacob’s wife Annie Jacob, his and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob, and daughter Ambili Jacob were present.
