In the company of Nobel laureates

It is not everyday that one gets to meet Nobel prize-winning scientists. Gopi Krishnan, a final-year student of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in the city, spent a week in such illustrious company in Germany last June.

Mr. Krishnan was one among the 600 young scientists selected from across the world to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings on the Lindau Island, an international conference where young researchers such as him got the novel opportunity to interact with Nobel laureates.

For these students, it was an opportunity to meet the scientists personally, get first-hand information on their prize-winning work, and share and discuss their own budding ideas. IISER Dean K. George Thomas said the students were nominated by a worldwide network of academic partners solely on the basis of their academic merit and their research work.
