The 13th session of the 13th Assembly will begin on March 6 with the Governor’s Address since it is the first session of the year. For Governor P. Sathasivam, this is his first address to the House, which will be in session for 23 days till April 9.
The highlight of the session will be the presentation of the State Budget for 2015-16 by Finance Minister K.M. Mani on March 13. The discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s Address will be held on March 9, 10, and 11. The statement for supplementary demand for grants for the 2014-15 budget will be tabled on March 10. The three-day general discussion on the budget will be held on March 16, 17, and 18. The House will take up the vote-on-account procedures on March 23 and 24 to facilitate the utilisation of funds for four months till the Assembly passes the full budget during its monsoon session.
The House has earmarked 11 days for legislative business. The business advisory committee will soon meet and decide on the dates and the bills to be take up for consideration. Besides, two days have been kept apart for private member’s Bills and resolution.

A meeting of all the parties represented in the Assembly will be held in the Speaker’s Chamber at 3 p.m. on March 4, an official statement said here on Monday.
In the meantime, the health condition of Speaker G. Karthikeyan continues to be grave. He has been admitted to a Bengaluru hospital in connection with the treatment for liver cancer. The Assembly session would be guided by Deputy Speaker N. Sakthan.
